Dirty Angels

AUTHOR: Karina Halle

PUBLISHED: June 15th 2014

SERIES: Dirty Angels #1

RATING: 5/7 Sins

SUMMARY:

For Luisa Chavez, a twenty-three year old former beauty queen, a better life has always been just out of her reach. Sure, she’s had men at her feet since she was a young teenager but she’s never had the one thing she’s craved – security. Having grown up in near poverty, her waitressing job in Cabo San Lucas can barely let her take care of herself, let alone her ailing parents. Every day is another unwanted advance, every day is a struggle to survive. When Salvador Reyes, the depraved leader of a major Mexican cartel, takes an interest in her, Luisa is presented with an opportunity she can’t afford to pass up. She’ll become Salvador’s wife and exchange her freedom and body for a life of riches – riches she can bestow upon her deserving parents. But Luisa quickly finds out that even the finest wines and jewels can’t undo the ugliness in her marriage, nor the never-ending violence that threatens her every move. Soon, Luisa is looking for an escape, a way out of the carefully controlled life she’s leading. She finally gets her wish in the worst way possible. As it is, being the wife of Salvador makes her an ideal target for rival cartels and there’s one particular man who needs Luisa as part of his cartel’s expansion. One particular man whose quest for power has destroyed lives, slit throats and gotten him out of an American prison. One particular man who will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants. That man is Javier Bernal. And he wants Luisa. He wants to take her, keep her, ruin her. Unless she ruins him first.

REVIEW:

This book is not for all i have to say. As it says in the summary **warning: this book contains situations which might be triggers for some people. Please see the bottom of this description to see if this is the kind of book that you'll love or piss you off**

I for once LOVED it! Loved it in a Locked-myself-up-in-my-room-finshed-it-in-a-day kind of love. It was exactly the kind of book i needed to get out of my four month funk and finally finish a book.

Let's start off with Luisa (A name I wasn't that fond of) she's a couragious woman who's selflessness will be her downfall. I liked her! Finally a strong and hot headed girl who wasn't stupid. Although i did have one moment near the end when i wanted to shove my fist through her head and shake some sense into her. At times it seems like she wants to punish herself, but she does everything with a kind heart.

On the other hand you have her forced-marriage-husband Salva whatever who'm i counldn't hate enough. When you think Joffrey Baratheon is the worst THINK AGAIN. He makes Joffrey look kind! Anyways I don't want to spoil to much but damn is he evil. They have a very false and complex marriage. The best way to describe this relationship is to comparing it to the marriage of (**GAME OF THRONES SPOILER**) Sansa Stark and Ramsey Snow. Yep that brutal marriage.... I hope that says enough for some..

But fear not! where there's a princes! there's a prince. This is not your average boy meet girl, boy falls for girl kind of story. Can we say hubba hubba to the third character introduced drumrolls please.... JAVIER. His name just melts on my tongue.

Though he is no angel either.

With this kind of story you have to keep in mind that they live in a different world where drugs and abuse is a normality and reality that they deal with daily. Once you know that you can enJoy the story beyond the brutality.

i couldn't get enough of my fantasy husband Javier. I look forward to the rest of the series. Book two introduces a new character with a suprising storyline. Book three has yet to come out but follows the storyline of book one!

For those who are familiar to our site, know we rate with sins. For this book i give this a 5 out of the 7 sins. There is no other book more perfect than this to rate with sins. This book just seems full of it. You have the lust. Lust that they shamelessly show. And i loved every second of it.

You have greed. A LOT of it indeed. Greed was one of the seven sins that has made and shaped this storyline. The story starts with Salvador's greed which continues to Javier's greed. Greed that has been there downfall in the beginning but has also been factor for a suprising decision that's to be made near the ending of the book.

I think the most commen sins that were often shown were the greed, wrath and pride which really shaped the story in this book.

however there seems to be a lot of gluttony (one of the sins) There were a lot of raw scenes what isn't most people or anybody's cup of tea. I feel like many scenes could have been less uhm.. explicit? But without a doubt this book had a stong lead character who didn't waver from what she believed in. I believe this book kept true to their storyline. Therefor i give it 5 Sins !!

And dont't forget! It only takes one, to fall in love with many...
